Midweek Musings

It has been an atrocious week for weather here. The wind has not stopped howling, wet weather in the region has resulted in flash flooding and damage to housing and infrastructure. Despite being perched on top of this hill, we have been lucky. Some recently transplanted plants have copped a bit of a battering, we are suffering cabin fever, and the dog has become too accustomed to her time in the laundry (technically speaking she drapes so far over the door to the kitchen I can safely say she lumbers alongside the oven!). But otherwise, we are fine. It’s weather like this that reminds me that though I enjoy my time in the kitchen, and working to make this house a home, I need to spend time outdoors every day, to feel the sun on my back and to see the sky and my surroundings. When that privilege is not bestowed upon me, I seek any glimpse of it from the confines of these four walls.
